If you have a problem with these tenacious creatures, you probably know by now their hallmark; huge colonies that extend above ground and a vicious sting. If you are experiencing fire ants indoors, these may be foraging from a colony outside or in the walls of your home. In any event, baiting is always a good idea for ants inside a structure.
Say hello to the new pest that makes people wish they had their fire ants back: the Rasberry Crazy Ant. These ants have been swarming in the South Eastern portion of the United States since 2002. They have been seen in Houston and the southern portions throughout Louisiana, including Baton Rouge. The ant has several common names, including Rasberry Crazy Ant, Hairy Crazy Ant, and Caribbean Crazy Ant.

I like the Harbor Freight for American Flags, zip ties, rubber tires and tarps. I wish they'd start sending sales catalogs again - but since they stopped you have to buy a membership for discounts. My flags and zip ties are my main reason for going now. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The store in Opelousas is always net and aisle are never blocked by myself.

I stopped by because I am having a problem with raccoons or armadillos digging up my yard. The owner was certain that the problem was armadillos but he was willing to entertain the idea that it might be raccoons after I showed him videos that my camera caught of raccoons. He suggested a product that seems moderately successful. I've only seen one since and the video showed the animal sniffing the product and departing the area.
If the problem is armadillos (and I've seen some in the neighborhood), he said that I would have to treat the yard to remove their food source. The shop was recommended by a friend.

They have a large variety of products, lots of options for your 'pest' needs. The employee that was there, I believe that his name was 'Mike' was very articulate and knowledgeable about the products that he had. He listened to my issues and helped with showing me numerous options, how to properly employ each type of trap, manual, chemical, etc.
I first went there several years ago and I continue to go back for 'expert' advice. I forgot to ask about the 'Under New Management' sign but it was good years ago and it is still my choice to go to for products and information. The big box stores might be a little less expensive but they don't typically have knowledgeable employees who can answer specific questions about products and they generally have fewer options/products. I went there yesterday, 21JUNE18.
